  • So I'm sitting in the smaller of our library's two computer rooms at a computer. In front of me is a large window that gives a view into the larger computer room. Currently a class is in session taking place in the large computer room in which the lecturer is giving a presentation with a title I found to be absolutely hilarious because it is a perfect example of "business speak." Business speak basically means, use superfluous speech composed of almost equievelant words to communicate something that could easily be said another way for the purpose of making it sound alot more complicated. The ultimate goal is to make business people, especially the ones saying or writing the business speak, feel more intelligent, worthwhile, and valuable despite the more likely possibility that they are none of the three and just a guy with a snappy looking suit and a thesarus.

The title of the lecture is "Leveraging Technology to Enhance Your Career Search."

Translation: "Using a computer to get a job"

  • New computer command

<insert interesting, intriguing, creative, engaging, entertaining, and hilarious xanga post, including carefully woven metaphors, deep statements, and clever one-liners, that somehow embodies the emotional, spiritual, social, and academic craziness that has been my life over the past half year.>

  • Columbus was successful

He got a holiday for himself. What else is there?

Cause he def didn't discover any part of the United States. HEY! Let's celebrate Leif Ericson day. I mean, he kinda discovered Newfoundland and it's kinda close to the United States!

Good idea. Next monday, the 20th of October, is Leif Ericson day. Woo hoo!

  • The Parking Spot Hierarchy

At my university there is a parking lot on the east side of campus near a rite aid pharmacy which I park in regularly as it is close to the building which all of my classes are in. As I was driving out of this parking lot one day, I noticed something interesting and managed to secure photographic evidence of it. Observe:
    1001081406
I know the picture is too small to read the signs, but I'll tell you what they say and you can just believe me.
It is important to note that the right side of the picture is closer to the campus.

Now, the sign on the left says "RESERVED FOR A & S ASSISTANT DEAN"
The center sign is obviously a handicap parking sign, and interestingly enough, the right sign says "RESERVED FOR DEAN OF ARTS AND SCIENCE"

I don't know if you have come to the same conclusion as I have, but it hit me that there is a parking spot hierarchy! Apparently, handicapped people are more important than the assistant dean of the Arts and Science college but NOT more important than the dean of Arts and Science.

    Very interesting....
